INPACS, Climate Neutral Company 2016

31.03.17AZHO

In 2016 INPACS participated in the GHG emissions offset program with the non-profit organisation “Climate without Borders” for the first time. Resuming our CSR efforts, INPACS has now successfully renewed it’s certificate of Carbon Neutrality through the purchase of Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER). It is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility within the INPACS organisation to increase awareness and consider any environmental impact created by our business operations.

Through participation in this Gold Standard program, not only are we off-setting our GHG emissions to become a Climate Neutral company but also helping to finance social projects in Uganda. These VER credits are invested in efficient cook stoves in Ugandan Communities, thus saving more than 140,000 tons of charcoal and firewood each year while lowering pressure on Uganda’s forests.

Juliet, living in a household of 15 people, mentioned that her stove saves fuel, cooks fast and is safe for the children. “Before I used a stove made from a car rim. Every day I would spend about 1.40€ on charcoal, but today I only use 0.28€. With my savings I pay for school fees and rent.”

As pointed out by José Del Pino, INPACS CEO: “This initiative is part of our firm sustainable approach and is a clear sign to all of our partners. As a group of family-owned businesses it is our fundamental duty to engage in social support programs and continuously raise awareness about the importance of taking active steps for a sustainable future.”
