Member Spotlight: Higiene Global Orbis and Toreco. Building Sustainability Through Education and Training
Orbis (Spain and Portugal) has taken a proactive approach to sustainability education by providing training and educational resources to employees, customers, and suppliers.
Throughout the year, employees participate in training sessions covering topics such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate change, the circular economy, ecosystem services, energy efficiency, waste management, and carbon footprint reduction.
In addition, Orbis shares sustainability-related newsletters with customers and suppliers, covering topics such as waste reduction, recycled materials, sustainable business practices, and packaging optimization. By extending sustainability knowledge beyond its own organization, ORBIS helps promote awareness and engagement throughout its wider network.
At Toreco (Moldova), sustainability education extends beyond the workplace through the EcoReco Initiative, an environmental education program designed to promote separate waste collection, recycling, and responsible waste management in the Republic of Moldova.
While the initiative engages companies, institutions, and communities in promoting circular economy principles, a key focus is inspiring younger generations through environmental education. At the heart of the program is „EcoReco“, an environmental superhero who helps make sustainability topics accessible and engaging for children.
Through games, educational activities, and interactive learning experiences, children learn why waste sorting matters, what happens to materials after collection, and how simple everyday actions can contribute to a cleaner environment.
By encouraging environmental awareness from an early age, EcoReco helps younger generations to develop responsible habits and understand the positive impact their action can have on the environment.
The initiative demonstrates how education can inspire future generations and turn environmental responsibility into meaningful action.
It is wonderful to see members across the INPACS network helping to build a stronger culture of sustainability internally and within their wider communities!
