ingreen Management Report on Sustainable Procurement

ingreen is a consulting service for the measurable improvement of sustainability performance in the customer's value chain. Based on an analysis of the customer's specific procurement behavior (utilized products, procurement process, and upstream supply chain) regarding defined sustainability criteria, potential for optimization is identified and concrete implementation recommendations for resource conservation and emission avoidance are provided.

ingreen is our holistic consulting service for the measurable improvement of sustainability performance in procurement. It is made up of the following services:

First, we analyze the customer-specific procurement behavior based on defined sustainability criteria. On this basis, the customer receives a management report that highlights the main potentials for optimization. This includes a range of concrete solutions for an implementable, sustainable, and long-term change in procurement.

ingreen management report was nominated by the German Sustainability Award for the Product Award 2025 in the transformation field “Value Chain”.

The report consists of three components:

    1. Analysis of product portfolio

The customer first receives information on the extent to which the products they have purchased have a recognized sustainability label (e.g. EU Ecolabel, Cradle-to-Cradle, etc.) and which sustainability-related product characteristics can be derived from this.

Based on scientific research, our experts evaluate which product characteristics address the relevant sustainability challenges of the respective product category. The optimization potential for the customer is derived from this. We generally focus on product categories with the greatest potential to give impactful recommendations for action.

These recommendations are based on the product life cycle and are therefore diverse: if alternative raw materials or application concepts are available, the recommendation may imply exchanging products for more sustainable alternatives. If the demand or the required quantity is called into question, a complete change of the applied system used (e. g. dispenser) may be the consequence. End-of-life scenarios are also evaluated in order to close loops (e. g. recycling of towel paper).

    2. Analysis of processes

This part of the report particularly focuses on transportation emissions and process costs.

The potential for saving process costs is presented based on the ordering behavior, the work involved in receiving goods as well as invoicing. On this basis, practical tips are provided for optimizing internal and external processes with measurable impact. Where applicable, the connection between the optimization of both the utilized product portfolio and the processes is established as well.

The connection between the frequency of deliveries and the CO2 emissions caused is established and the individual CO2 savings potential is determined.

    3. Analysis of supply chain

This analysis provides the customer with an insight into its value chain, which includes INPACS as a supplier and its indirect suppliers (Tier 2). Both consolidated and company-specific data on the CSR performance of manufacturers is provided.

For each of the three report components, the survey methodology is explained transparently, and further background information is provided to the customer. The service also includes consulting sessions as part of customer support in order to initiate and actively support the implementation of the optimization potential identified. By doing so, we want to ensure that the sustainability potential identified is actually utilized.
